Internet-enabled devices are becoming standard. The very next year to more than 10 million TV households with Internet access available in German.
The focus is on the home networking and consumer electronics in the IT and telecommunications. The market volume for networkable products in the ICT and CE will rise this year in Germany to almost 28 percent to 16 billion €. One recent study by market researcher GfK Retail and Technology was commissioned by theBITKOM . Growth will accelerate more. The main reason is the strong growth of Tablet PCs, smartphones and Internet-enabled televisions.
This is just the beginning. A German household has an average of about 50 electrical appliances. Most of these devices will soon be Internet-ready. A washing machine, heating, lighting give up their island life, and are intelligently linked. As a result, power consumption can be optimized. Appliances and heating run only if they are really needed and if needed can be on the road or off.
This development is being discussed at the congress ConLife, on 29 and 30 June 2011 for the second time in Cologne takes place. An accompanying exhibition examines the connected life and home networking. The venue is the Congress-Centrum Nord Koelnmesse. (Elmar Torok)
